Troubleshooting
Informational resources from our experiences installing and supporting 12v power systems and related equipment. Please find below both our FAQ’s and a step-by-step trouble tree.
Please note, this trouble tree is limited to power distribution systems that center around an ignition timer/relay/fuse panel system combo e.g. our Gen I, Gen II, and FasTech power distribution.
Is there a fuse in the "Power Timer" position in the fuse block?
Insert a 7.5A fuse and retest.
Is there a minimum 12v on the input and output sides of the fuse?
Replace the "Timer Power" fuse (7.5A) and retest.
With vehicle ignition on, is there a minimum 12v on the timer's ignition input wire?
Repair the no-voltage condition on ignition input wire and retest.
Using the timer instructions for your timer product, is the timer functioning correctly according to the status LED?
The timer is likely faulty. Please contact us for a replacement.
Using a multimeter, does the timer have GND on both ground wires and 12v on its input wire?
Repair connections and retest.
With ignition turned ON, does the status LED turn solid green and the output wire read 12v?
The timer is likely faulty. Please contact us for a replacement.
Using a multimeter, does the relay have both 12v positive and ground on the relay harness?
Repair bad connections on relay connector terminals or wiring or replace the timer.
When timer is idle/off and ignition is turned on, does the relay make an audible click, indicating it has energized?
The relay is likely faulty, please contact us for a replacement.
With the relay energized, does the load circuit show 12v?
The relay is likely faulty, please contact us for a replacement.
